To keep EPA on track we working flexibly with our EQA bodies and our customers to provide remote assessment opportunities where possible. This will enable apprentices to complete assessment remotely (even at home if required).
We are now providing the ability for apprentices to complete exams, Professional Discussions, Portfolio Reviews, Presentations and Interviews remotely or from home. We are following the IFATE and Ofqual guidance to support this.
For some standards face-to-face assessment is unavoidable. Carrying these out may cause concern around cross-infection and would contravene government guidance. As a result of this, and to reduce the likelihood of contamination we are recommending that no on-site assessments will take place for at least the next three weeks until we get further guidance from the government.
If you have apprentices that have already entered Gateway and they require an observation or remote assessment is not suitable for them, the EPA window can be extended for a further 12 weeks. If you have apprentices going through the Gateway over the next few weeks please still book them on our system and we will arrange for these to take place as soon as site visits are allowed again by the government.
We will continue to work with the Department for Education and Skills, the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, Ofqual and other regulators to identify any suitable alternative assessment methods and review our position. Please discuss this with us so we can proactively and collaboratively work with you during this challenging time.
