Shop fitting installation qualification overview
This qualification is designed to develop and assess the competent performance of those involved in shop fitting, so they have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to work effectively in their role.
On achievement of the qualification practitioners will have developed the competence to perform consistently and reliably in their role.
This qualification will support progression of learners to:
- supervisory role, like charge hand or foreperson
- works manager
- contracts manager
- shopfitting designer
Those completing this qualification are eligible to apply for a Shopfitting and Interior Contracting Competency Scheme (SICCS) Card from the National Association of Shopfitters.
Who is the qualification for?
A Shop Fitter installs fixtures and fittings in shops, bars and other premises. You might also build and refurbish shop fronts and doorways.
You’ll work with other tradespeople like tilers, electricians and plumbers.
The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment method:
- portfolio of evidence
Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. External quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL.
This qualification is not graded; achievement certificates for this qualification are issued on the basis of awarding a pass only
