About our new fishmongery qualification.

This qualification is designed develop and assess the competent performance of those involved in fishmonger operations, so they develop the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours to work effectively in their role. On achievement of the qualification learners will have developed the level of competence which
will enable them to perform consistently, reliably and productively in their work role, and make a positive contribution to employment.

OAL Level 2 Diploma in Fishmongery – 603/2859/9

This qualification is recommended to support the learning and assessment of the fishmonger apprenticeship standard. This qualification reflects the range of fishmonger operations that the industry recognises, to enable learners to develop the specific skills required by employers. It is recommended to support the learning and assessment of apprentices enrolled on the Fishmonger Apprenticeship Standard.

End point assessment for fishmonger

The end-point assessment consists of three distinct components:

  1. A written knowledge test answered through a combination of multiple choice questions and extended answer questions.
  2. A practical observation of skills.
  3. A professional dialogue and interview, which is undertaken after the other end-point assessment components have been successfully completed.
