About our food and drink operations qualifications.

This group of qualifications are designed to develop and confirm a graded level of performance of food and drink process operators, so they have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to work effectively in food and drink processing or manufacturing operations. On achievement of the qualification learners will have developed the level of competence which will enable them to perform consistently, reliably and productively in their work role, and make a positive contribution to their employment. This qualification is graded and learners will be awarded a pass, merit or distinction grade on achievement.

OAL Level 2 Diploma in Food and Drink Operations – 603/0127/2

This qualification underpins delivery of the food and drink process operator apprenticeship standard.

OAL Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Operations – 603/0138/7

This qualification underpins delivery of the food and drink process operator apprenticeship standard.

Food and drink process operator and advanced apprenticeship standards

Occupational Awards Limited (OAL) offer the qualifications which supports the delivery of the food and drink process operator standard and the food and drink advanced process operator standard. We are also approved to offer apprentice end-point assessment services for both food and drink process operator apprenticeships.

End-point assessment for food and drink process operator

The end-point assessment must take place in the workplace. It includes three distinct components:

  1. A written knowledge test answered through multiple choice questions
  2. A workplace-based practical observation of skills
  3. A professional dialogue and interview, which is undertaken after all other end-point assessment components have been successfully completed.

To achieve final certification, you must have completed and achieved a minimum of a pass in each end-point assessment component.

End-point assessment for food and drink advanced process operator

The end-point assessment must take place in the workplace. It includes three distinct components:

  1. A written knowledge test answered through a combination of multiple choice questions and extended answer questions
  2. A practical observation
  3. A presentation and interview

The assessments must be taken in this order and apprentices must pass each component before taking the next.

To achieve final certification, you must have completed and achieved a minimum of a pass in each end-point assessment component.
