About our food and drink maintenance engineering qualification.

This qualification is designed to develop and assess the competent performance of those involved in food engineering maintenance in food and drink manufacturing operations, and develop the necessary skills, knowledge, understanding and behaviours to work effectively in their role. On achievement of the qualification learners will have developed the level of competence which will enable them to perform consistently, reliably and productively in their work role, and make a positive contribution to their employment.

End-point assessment for food and drink maintenance engineer

The end-point assessment should take place at either the workplace or at recognised EPA site. The assessment will include three distinct components:

  1. A written knowledge test answered through a combination of multiple choice questions and extended answer questions
  2. Practical tests made up of work-based observations and a work-based and job-related workplace project
  3. A professional dialogue and interview, which is undertaken after all other end-point assessment components have been successfully completed

To achieve final certification, the apprentice must have completed and achieved a minimum of a pass in each end-point assessment component.
