Furniture restoration qualification overview
Furniture restorers are involved in the conservation and restoration of antique and modern furniture by using practical and scientific restoration techniques.
This qualification is designed to give a wide range of skills appropriate to restoration and repair. It was developed with support from the Furniture Industry Employer Trailblazer Group, British Furniture Manufacturers, British Contract Furniture Association, FIRA, The Furniture Makers and the National Bed Federation.
This qualification will support progression of learners to:
- Team leader and supervisory roles
- Furniture quality technician
- Furniture production leader
- Furniture design technician
- New product developer.
The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment method:
- portfolio of evidence.
Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. Externally quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL.
