Internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practice qualification overview
This qualification is designed to develop and assess the competent performance of Internal Quality Assurers, so they have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to work effectively in the quality assurance of assessment of vocational qualifications.
On achievement of the qualification learners will have developed the competence to perform consistently and reliably, to meet the regulatory requirements of valid internal quality assurance of assessment in their work role.
This qualification will support progression of learners to:
- entry into internal quality assurance roles in the learning and skills industry
- level 4 vocational qualifications in education and training
- level 4 vocational qualifications in external quality assurance of assessment
- increased responsibility in learning and skills management roles.
Who is the qualification for?
This qualification is designed primarily for Internal Quality Assurers (previously known as Internal Verifiers) who are involved in the quality assurance of vocational assessment processes and practice. They work in Awarding Organisation’s approved centres often located within colleges, universities, learning providers or businesses.
The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment method:
- portfolio of evidence
Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. Assessment will involve observation of learner performance carrying out the internal quality assurer’s role. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification.
Externally quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL. This qualification is not graded; achievement certificates for this Award are issued on the basis of awarding a pass only.
