Timber treatment qualification overview
This qualification is aimed at anyone working in timber treatment. This is a work based qualification this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in timber treatment within the wood and related industry or progress onto further learning.
The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units: – Preparing Timber for Treatment, Drying and Storing Treated Timber in the Workplace – Preparing Timber Treatment Chemicals in the Workplace – Operating and Maintaining Timber Treatment Plant in the Workplace – Contributing to the effectiveness of work in a commercial setting and Making sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety.
Who is the qualification for?
This level 2 qualification will give you a robust understanding of Timber Treatment. You do not need any prior qualifications to undertake this level 2 qualification.
This is an NVQ qualification and competence can only be demonstrated in a work environment.
On completion, other job roles could include:
- Wood/Timber Preserver
- Wood/Timber Treatment Technician
The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment method:
- portfolio of evidence
Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. Assessment will involve observation of learner performance carrying out grading and moderation activities. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. External quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL.
This qualification is not graded; achievement certificates for this qualification are issued on the basis of awarding a pass only.
