Wood machining – CNC machines qualification overview

This qualification covers the advanced practical skills and knowledge required to work on CNC machines within the wood machining industry.

You will take the following mandatory units:

  • Health and safety within furniture and furnishing making environments
  • Manufacturing wood-based components using CNC machines
  • Sustainability in the timber trade
  • Environmental management and waste management in woodmachining
  • Manufacturing wood-based components using CNC machines
  • Produce drawings using CAD
  • Workflow management in wood machining

Who is the qualification for?

This qualification is suitable if you wish to pursue a career working on CNC machines in wood machining roles within the furniture industry. Ideally you should already have completed the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Machining qualification or have a basic understanding of wood machining skills.

The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment methods:

Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. Externally quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL.

This qualification is not graded; achievement certificates for this qualifications are issued on the basis of awarding a pass only.
