Wood machining qualification overview

This qualification is aimed at those who are employed by a range of business sectors to cut, shape and prepare materials providing component parts for their product range. These can include furniture, kitchens, garden furniture, sheds, fencing, interior skirtings etc, using CNC machinery, as well as all of the long-standing traditional machinery.

Who is the qualification for?

This qualification is suitable if you are working in a wood machining role within the furniture and industry and if you have a good understanding of the practical skills and knowledge associated with your role profile within the workplace. This qualification is aimed at learners who are fully trained to deal with complex assignments.


The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment method:

  • portfolio of evidence

Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. Externally quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL.
