Wood products manufacturing qualification overview
The primary purpose of the qualification is to enable individuals to demonstrate trade specific competence and knowledge appropriate for the day to day activities in a manufacturing environment using wood.
Specific products may include, for example: windows, frames, flooring systems, fire doors, external doors, spraying systems, internal doors, stairs, architectural woodworking products, kitchens/cabinet making and panels.
Who is the qualification for?
Those working in the furniture and wood products manufacturing industry, or working towards an apprenticeship, this qualification is ideal for demonstrating competence. It is a measure of ability to carry out a range of work to criteria which has been set by the industry.
The qualification must be assessed using the following assessment method:
- portfolio of evidence
Learners are required to achieve all learning outcomes within units of assessment. Assessment will involve observation of learner performance carrying out grading and moderation activities. All assessment is subject to internal quality assurance within approved centres providing this qualification. External quality assurance of assessment and internal quality assurance within approved centres is provided by OAL.
This qualification is not graded; achievement certificates for this qualification are issued on the basis of awarding a pass only.
